Understand the round.
Practise the skill.
The Capgemini selection process for freshers typically includes aptitude, coding or technical assessment, technical interview and HR interview. Its India recruitment FAQ also lists group discussion for selected roles; language assessments may apply. Check the official recruitment process alongside your own invitation.
Preparation becomes difficult when you collect question lists without knowing what to practise. This guide connects each stage with a practical task, worked examples and a way to review your own answers.

What should you check in the assessment invitation?
Capgemini's general hiring journey starts with application review and skills-to-role matching, followed by HR screening and applicable assessments or interviews. See the official application stages.
Write a short note from your actual invitation before opening a preparation playlist. Keep it beside you so that your practice matches the task you will attempt.
- Role and eligibility: exact qualification, batch, marks, backlog conditions and experience requirement.
- Assessment instructions: named sections, time limits, marking rules, permitted languages and any sample questions provided.
- Test arrangements: date, time zone, login window, identity checks and device requirements.
- Help route: candidate reference, verified recruiter or placement contact, and instructions for reporting a technical problem.
The public recruitment overview does not establish one universal question count, cutoff, negative-marking rule or assessment platform. Use the instructions issued for your drive. Official process reference.
Prepare the requested records early. The campus placement document checklist helps you check academic details and organise readable files before registration or verification.
How should you prepare for the online tests?
Use three kinds of practice: solve a problem, explain the method, and identify why an incorrect approach fails. This gives you useful feedback even when your test format changes.
For aptitude revision, start with arithmetic, data interpretation, logical reasoning and reading comprehension at your current level. For technical preparation, select topics from the job description and assessment instructions. The examples below show how to review your work.
Check what the percentage refers to
Question: A practice test contains 60 questions. A student attempts 75% of them and answers 80% of the attempted questions correctly. How many correct answers does the student have?
Answer: 36. The student attempts 45 questions: 60 × 0.75. Correct answers are 45 × 0.80 = 36. Applying 80% directly to 60 would use the wrong base.
After checking the answer, explain the calculation in one sentence. Then change the numbers and solve again. This tests understanding more reliably than remembering the final number.
Find the second-largest distinct value
Task: Given [7, 3, 7, 5, 2], return the second-largest distinct value. The answer is 5. The repeated 7 must not become the second answer.
First clarify what to return when there are fewer than two distinct values. Then explain a simple solution before trying to improve it.
- Try
[4, 4]: no second distinct value exists. - Try
[-3, -8, -1]: the answer is-3. - Try a one-element input and an empty input under the agreed rules.
Review your approach: sorting distinct values is easy to explain. A single scan can instead track the largest and second-largest distinct values in O(n) time with constant extra space. Handle duplicates and missing values explicitly.
If your assessment uses pseudocode, trace the variables carefully on paper. If it requires working code, practise the exact input and output format as well as the logic.
Practise communication when it is part of your invitation
Record yourself explaining the coding example to a classmate who has not seen it. State the task, the idea, one edge case and the result. Listen for missing steps, unfinished sentences and unnecessary speed.
For listening practice, summarise a short recording from memory and then check what you missed. If you need a teaching resource, the spoken English learning guide can help you choose support for regular practice.
What should you practise for the technical interview?
Prepare to explain your reasoning in small steps. For a software-oriented role, choose one language, relevant fundamentals and one project you understand well. For another role, replace the technical topics with the skills named in its description.
Take a concept from your resume and practise a definition, a small example and a follow-up question. For instance, explaining what a database join does becomes more useful when you can also write a query and explain its result.
Find customers who have no orders
Assume customers(id, name) and orders(id, customer_id), where each id is a non-null primary key. Explain how you would return customers without a matching order.
SELECT c.id, c.name
FROM customers AS c
LEFT JOIN orders AS o
ON o.customer_id = c.id
WHERE o.id IS NULL;
The left join keeps customers even when no order matches. For those rows, the order columns are null, so the condition identifies customers without orders.
Follow-up to practise: why would an inner join fail to return these customers? Explain that it keeps only matching rows. Then create a tiny dataset and check your reasoning.
Turn your project into a conversation
Prepare a short project explanation that another person can question. You should understand the decisions behind the features, including something that went wrong and how you checked the fix.
Start the explanation
- Who needed the project?
- What did you personally build?
- How does the main feature work?
- What did you test or improve?
Prepare the follow-up
Choose one design decision and explain an alternative. Show one defect you found, the input that exposed it and how you verified the correction. Be clear about the project's remaining limitations.
If you need a manageable project to practise with, explore these resume project ideas for BCA students and choose one that fits your present skills. Improve a small complete project before adding more technologies.
Make the evidence easy to review. The GitHub profile and project guide can help you organise setup instructions, screenshots and your contribution without presenting a tutorial project as professional experience.
How should you handle the HR conversation?
Prepare specific experiences that show how you learn, work with others and respond to a problem. Capgemini's interview guidance recommends understanding the role, explaining your experiences honestly and preparing your own questions. Read the official interview tips.
Choose three genuine situations: a deadline, a disagreement and a learning challenge. For each one, note the situation, your action, the outcome and what you would change next time. A modest example explained accurately is enough for practice.
For “Why this role?”, connect an actual responsibility with a skill or project you want to develop. If asked about location, shifts or joining availability, give an honest answer based on your situation.
The HR interview questions guide for freshers can help you rehearse common themes. Adapt the structure to your own experience instead of memorising someone else's story.
If your drive includes a group discussion
Practise making one clear point with a reason and an example. Listen before adding a second point, and respond to the idea another candidate has raised. If you disagree, explain your reasoning without interrupting or making the discussion personal.
After a practice discussion, ask a friend whether your contribution was clear and relevant. Speaking for the longest time is not a useful preparation target.
What should you do the evening before?
Use the following routine to reduce avoidable problems. This is a preparation suggestion, not a company timetable.
- Check the invitation again. Confirm the date, time zone, venue or meeting link, reporting instructions and permitted materials.
- Test the required setup. Follow the platform's compatibility check when provided. Check power, internet, camera and microphone as applicable.
- Review your own weak points. Revisit the errors you recorded and explain one solution aloud. Avoid starting several unfamiliar topics.
- Open the resume you submitted. Review every skill and project claim. BCA candidates can use the BCA fresher resume guide to identify unclear descriptions before an interview.
- Prepare two useful questions. Ask about the work, training expectations or how performance is reviewed. Keep required documents and the verified support contact ready.
During the assessment, follow the stated rules for calculators, notes, browser use and outside assistance. If a technical issue occurs, use the prescribed reporting route and keep the reference number. Do not capture confidential questions while documenting a problem.
What happens after the interviews?
Capgemini's published journey covers documentation, compensation discussion, a formal offer, acceptance through the candidate portal, background verification and onboarding. Candidates can track applications through their login. Source: application and onboarding steps.
Keep the candidate reference and recruiter communication together. Ask for clarification when a requested document is unavailable, and check the written terms before accepting. The fresher job-offer comparison guide helps you organise questions about role, compensation and work conditions.
Capgemini fresher selection FAQs
How many interview rounds should I expect?
Capgemini says the number varies by role and candidate profile. Use your recruiter or invitation to confirm the rounds for your application.
Should I prepare game-based tests or pseudocode?
Check whether your invitation includes them. Practise the supplied format when available; for pseudocode, focus on tracing variables, conditions and loops accurately.
Which programming language should I choose?
Use a language permitted by your assessment that you can write and explain confidently. Practise input handling, debugging and edge cases in that language.
What should I do when I cannot solve an interview problem?
Clarify the requirement, work through a small example and explain what you have tried. If you need help, ask a specific question and use the hint honestly.
Can I prepare effectively in one week?
A week can help you revise existing skills, practise explanations and fix avoidable mistakes. Choose topics from your invitation and do not treat a short plan as a selection guarantee.
When will I receive the interview result?
Capgemini says timelines vary with the role, business needs and candidate profile. Monitor official communication and ask your assigned recruiter when an update is due.
