Bank of Baroda LBO Recruitment 2026 Out: Apply Online for 2,482 Vacancies, Salary & Eligibility

Bank of Baroda has opened applications for 2,482 Local Bank Officer posts in Junior Management Grade/Scale-I. Online registration started on 18 August 2026 and closes on 7 September 2026. The notified basic pay scale starts at ₹48,480 and goes up to ₹85,920, with applicable allowances and benefits.

But there is one eligibility point you should check before anything else: this recruitment is not meant for fresh graduates. A candidate needs at least one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank. Graduation alone is not enough.

!
Do not read this as “2,482 jobs for any graduate.”

A graduation degree is mandatory, but Bank of Baroda also asks for a minimum of one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of RBI.

Experience in the clerical cadre is specifically not considered for eligibility. Your certified job profile should also substantially match the type of work expected from a Scale-I officer.

First Decide Whether This Recruitment Is Actually for You

The vacancy number is attractive, especially because Gujarat alone has more than one thousand posts after fresh and earlier unfilled vacancies are combined. But this is an experienced banking-officer recruitment, not another PO form where a fresher can simply graduate and apply.

1
Check your banking experience before checking vacancies Your one-year experience must be after completing the mandatory educational qualification and should be officer-level experience in an eligible Scheduled Commercial Bank.
2
Choose the State as a posting decision You can apply for only one State. Your candidature and merit are considered against that State, so this is not a casual preference field.
3
Check the local language before paying the fee Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the notified local language of the chosen State.
4
Understand the long posting condition Selected officers are initially tied to the State applied for for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever comes earlier.

Bank of Baroda LBO Eligibility 2026

Bank of Baroda LBO Recruitment 2026 Out: Apply Online for 2,482 Vacancies, Salary & Eligibility

The basic eligibility looks short in the notification, but the experience condition changes the whole target audience of this recruitment. If you are currently a clerk, a banking fresher or have worked only outside the eligible bank category, do not assume that the word “graduate” makes you eligible.

Does Your Work Experience Count?

This is probably the most useful question to answer before opening the application portal. One year of “banking experience” is not automatically the same as the experience Bank of Baroda has asked for.

The notification is specific about officer experience.
Likely relevant Post-qualification officer experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank, subject to your job profile satisfying Bank of Baroda's requirements.
Do not count this blindly Clerical-cadre experience is not considered for determining eligibility. Experience from an ineligible organisation also cannot simply be substituted.

Candidates have to submit an experience certificate and a job profile certified by the current or previous employer. Bank of Baroda can reject the candidature if the job profile does not substantially match its Scale-I officer profile.

Bank of Baroda LBO Age Limit 2026

The basic age limit is 21 to 30 years as on 1 August 2026. Upper-age relaxation is available for notified categories.

The application fee or intimation charge is non-refundable. The Bank states that it remains payable irrespective of whether an online test is conducted or whether a candidate is eventually shortlisted.

Where Do the 2,482 Vacancies Come From?

Another useful detail hidden by a simple “2,482 vacancies” headline is that these are not all newly created vacancies. Bank of Baroda has combined 1,300 new vacancies with 1,182 unfilled vacancies from earlier LBO recruitment exercises.

New Vacancies 1,300 Fresh vacancies in the 2026 notification.
Earlier Unfilled Vacancies 1,182 Carried forward from previous LBO recruitment exercises.

Bank of Baroda LBO State-Wise Vacancies 2026

Gujarat has by far the largest total with 1,185 vacancies, but 785 of those are unfilled vacancies from earlier LBO exercises. Karnataka follows with 418, while Maharashtra has 218.

Do not choose a State only by sorting this list from highest to lowest. Your language, existing location preference and the long initial posting condition should also make sense.

Local Language Test: Who Can Skip It?

Local-language proficiency is not just mentioned for formality. Candidates shortlisted through the online examination have to qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test before Personal Interview if the exemption does not apply.

If your Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet/certificate proves that you studied the specified local language of the State as one of your subjects, you are not required to undergo the separate language proficiency test.

Otherwise, failing the required language test means you cannot move to the Personal Interview stage. This is another reason not to chase Gujarat's or Karnataka's higher vacancy number without checking language suitability first.

Bank of Baroda LBO Salary 2026

Salary should be read carefully because the figure in the notification is a basic pay scale, not a guaranteed monthly in-hand salary.

JMG / Scale-I Pay Scale
₹48,480 – ₹85,920

The notified scale progresses through annual increments. Bank of Baroda also states that one advance increment will be granted to selected candidates having one year or more of officer experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank.

In addition to basic pay, applicable bank allowances, perquisites and benefits are governed by banking-sector settlement and Bank policies.

So avoid converting ₹48,480 directly into “in-hand salary”. DA, HRA or housing benefits, other allowances and deductions affect the actual amount received.

Three Service Conditions You Should Know Before Applying

These conditions are easy to ignore when the vacancy number is trending, but they matter if you are already working in another bank and are considering a switch.

Probation 12 Months Active service from joining.
Minimum Service Bond 3 Years Early exit can trigger bond payment under the notified terms.
Initial State Posting Up to 12 Years Or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.

The current service bond says a selected candidate should serve the Bank for at least three years or, for premature exit, pay an amount equivalent to three months' gross salary subject to a maximum of ₹2 lakh. Bank policies can be revised, so the offer letter remains important at joining.

What Does a Bank of Baroda Local Bank Officer Actually Do?

The role is broader than sitting at a desk and processing simple transactions. Bank of Baroda's job description combines branch operations, credit work, compliance, customer handling and business development.

An LBO can be involved in customer service, accounts, remittances, retail, agriculture and MSME credit proposals, KYC/AML compliance, audit requirements, deposit mobilisation, acquiring customers, cross-selling banking products, customer visits and local-market outreach.

That makes the one-year officer-experience requirement easier to understand. The Bank is looking for someone who can enter a Scale-I role with practical branch and customer-facing banking exposure, rather than starting from zero.

Bank of Baroda LBO Exam Pattern 2026

If Bank of Baroda conducts the online test in the structure currently given in the advertisement, candidates will face 120 questions for 120 marks in 120 minutes. Each section has its own 30-minute timing.

Section 1 English Language 30 Questions • 30 Marks • 30 Minutes
Section 2 Banking Knowledge 30 Questions • 30 Marks • 30 Minutes
Section 3 General / Economic Awareness 30 Questions • 30 Marks • 30 Minutes
Section 4 Reasoning + Quantitative Aptitude 30 Questions • 30 Marks • 30 Minutes

English is qualifying in nature and its marks are not considered for the final merit list under the tentative structure. A wrong answer attracts a penalty of 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question. The Bank can modify the test structure and will announce the online-test date separately.

Bank of Baroda LBO Selection Process

The notification gives Bank of Baroda flexibility in how it conducts the recruitment. The process can include an online test, psychometric or other assessment, language test and Interview/GD as decided by the Bank.

Online Test
Language Check
Psychometric / Other Test
GD / Interview

For GD/Personal Interview, the notification currently mentions minimum qualifying marks of 60% for General candidates and 55% for reserved-category candidates, although the Bank reserves the right to revise its qualifying criteria.

How to Apply for Bank of Baroda LBO Recruitment 2026

1
Check experience eligibility first Keep your experience certificate and employer-certified job profile ready. Do not pay the fee first and investigate experience later.
2
Open the official Bank of Baroda recruitment portal Go through Careers → Current Opportunities or use the active LBO registration portal linked above.
3
Complete registration with an active email and mobile number Keep them active throughout the recruitment because call-letter and interview information can be communicated electronically.
4
Select only one State Check vacancy, local language and posting suitability together before making this selection.
5
Upload education and experience documents carefully The recruitment asks for your bio-data, photograph, signature and eligibility documents including work-experience proof.
6
Preview the form before final submission Bank of Baroda warns that changes in entered data will not be entertained after final submission.
7
Pay the applicable fee and save the application Keep your acknowledgement number, application copy and fee receipt for later stages.

Documents Worth Preparing Before You Start the Form

Experienced candidates may need more documentation than they are used to in a normal PO application. Apart from photograph and signature, the notification asks for education and employment-related proof.

  • Resume / Bio-data
  • 10th certificate or other DOB proof
  • Graduation marksheets and certificates
  • Work experience certificates
  • Employer-certified job profile
  • Category / EWS / PwBD certificate, where applicable
  • Recent photograph and signature

Supporting documents uploaded in PDF format should follow the size and format instructions shown in the application system. Make sure experience documents clearly establish your officer role instead of uploading a vague relieving letter.

How I would prepare if I were applying while already working in a bank

Because this recruitment targets experienced officers, I would not prepare it exactly like a fresher's bank exam. I would use the banking exam YouTube guide mainly for Reasoning, Quant and English revision, while spending more serious time on Banking Knowledge and current financial awareness.

For interview-style banking revision, the IBPS PO YouTube resource guide is useful because it also covers banking awareness and interview support. If self-study discipline is the bigger problem because of a full-time job, the workflow in my Bank SO self-study guide can be adapted for working candidates.

You can also use the Banking Awareness and General Awareness resources for daily revision. Candidates who want more officer-level interview practice can borrow the preparation method from the RRB PO interview and preparation guide .

Should You Apply for Bank of Baroda LBO 2026?

If you already have the required officer experience, satisfy the age limit, are genuinely comfortable with the local language and want to move into Bank of Baroda at Scale-I, this is a strong recruitment to evaluate.

The biggest attraction is not simply the 2,482 figure. It is a regular officer recruitment with a defined JMG/S-I pay scale and a large number of State-specific openings.

But the same State-specific structure also creates the biggest decision. Do not choose Gujarat only because it has 1,185 vacancies or Karnataka because it has 418. First ask whether the language, long posting condition and your own career plan fit that State.

And if you are a fresher or have only clerical banking experience, this is not the right notification to force-fit your profile into. It is better to focus on PO/Clerk recruitment where your actual eligibility matches the role.
