How do I resize a photo to 50KB for an exam form?

The tool treats the number as a safe maximum and tries to preserve the highest possible visual quality below that limit. The final file can be smaller than the selected maximum.
Why is my PNG still larger than the target KB?
PNG uses a different compression method and its file size cannot be controlled with a normal quality slider. For very small exam-form limits, JPG is usually easier to keep under a specific maximum KB value.
