How Marks Percentage Is Calculated
Percentage is based on the combined marks, not always the average of separate subject percentages. This difference matters when subjects have different maximum marks.
How the Best of 5 Calculator Selects Subjects
The tool first checks whether you marked any subject as compulsory. Those subjects stay in the result. It then compares the percentage of every remaining subject and fills the open places with the highest scores.
Suppose six subjects have percentages of 88, 94, 91, 83, 76, and 95. In a normal Best of 5 calculation, the 76% subject will be excluded. If that subject is compulsory, you can switch on “Must include,” and the tool will remove the lowest non-compulsory subject instead.
Subjects are ranked by their individual percentage. The final result is then calculated from selected obtained and maximum marks.
Lock the language only when the official admission or board rule requires it. Do not assume that every Best of 5 policy is the same.

How do I calculate the percentage of marks?
Add all obtained marks, add all maximum marks, divide the obtained total by the maximum total, and multiply the result by 100. The All Subjects mode performs these steps automatically.
Can I calculate the percentage of five or six subjects?
Yes. Add five, six, or any other number of subjects. Empty rows are ignored, while every completed row is validated before calculation.
How does the Best of 5 calculator work?
It ranks valid subjects by their individual percentage and selects the highest scores. Subjects marked “Must include” stay in the result before the remaining places are filled.
Can subjects have different maximum marks?
Yes. A subject can be out of 50, 80, 100, or another maximum. The tool uses the actual obtained and maximum marks instead of assuming that every subject is equal.
How can I find the marks required for a target percentage?
Open Target Marks, enter the marks already obtained, current maximum, remaining maximum, and final target. The planner will show the minimum marks needed and whether the target is possible.
