Your degree is the starting point.
BCom, BBA, BCA and BSc are included in HCLTech's broad Graduate Trainee eligibility list. The list also includes BA and BPharma. A particular vacancy can have additional conditions, so match the actual notice before applying. See the official HCLTech campus-hiring page.
For a fresher, the confusing part is often deciding which HCLTech hiring route belongs to your degree. Start by separating the programme name, the work offered and the conditions in your own invitation. This guide helps you make that decision and prepare a useful application.
Where BCom, BBA, BCA and BSc fit
A degree can help you identify a route, but it cannot tell you everything about the eventual job. Read the responsibilities carefully enough to explain the work in one simple sentence.
| Degree | Before choosing a vacancy |
|---|---|
| BCom | Match any required commerce specialisation and the actual business tasks. |
| BBA | Read which function, process or team the opening supports. |
| BCA | Check whether the work involves development, support, reporting or another function. |
| BSc | Match the exact subject or specialisation stated in the notice. |
HCLTech names areas including finance, HR, technology projects and compliance. It does not assign each degree to a fixed department in this overview. Source: Graduate Trainee section.
The suggestions below are preparation guidance from SahilDubey.com. They are not an official HCLTech test syllabus or a promise of a particular job assignment.
BCom: make your comfort with numbers visible
If the work mentions accounts, invoices or reconciliation, revise those basics from your own course. Build a small practice spreadsheet with fictional invoices, due dates and payment status. Explain how you would find a duplicate entry or a mismatch.
This gives you something specific to discuss. Writing “good accounting knowledge” on a resume is much less useful if you cannot explain a simple transaction or the checks in your own workbook.
BBA: connect classroom learning with a process
Choose a familiar college activity and show how you organised it. You could prepare a tracker for an event with tasks, owners, deadlines and pending approvals. Practise explaining what you did when a task was delayed.
If you prefer HR-related work, use fictional details to create an interview-scheduling exercise. Keep the focus on clear communication and accurate follow-up. Your specialisation should guide your examples without making you assume a guaranteed department.
BCA: let the responsibilities choose your revision
For a technology-related opening, pick one project you genuinely understand. Be ready to explain its purpose, your contribution, a problem you solved and a limitation. Add SQL, programming or troubleshooting practice when the actual role calls for it.
If you are still choosing between development and other technology work, the guide to non-coding and less-coding jobs after BCA can help you compare the daily tasks before selecting a direction.
BSc: pay attention to the subject written beside the degree
Do not shorten your qualification so much that the specialisation disappears. Write the degree title as it appears in your records, then compare it with the vacancy. A science project can also show careful observation, data handling and clear reporting.
For practice, turn one genuine assignment into a short explanation: what question you studied, what information you used, what you found and what the result could not establish. Choose an example relevant to the work you want.
Turn eligibility into a clear decision
Details that need a drive-specific check
The public Graduate Trainee overview does not give one universal rule for graduating batch, marks, backlogs, education gaps, salary, location or application deadline. Use the actual drive notice. Official programme reference.
Read every condition beside your own academic records. Check the required degree and specialisation, passing year, study mode, marks calculation, backlog wording and experience requirement. Also check whether the role asks for relocation, shifts or a particular joining date.
A missing detail is a question to resolve. It does not automatically mean that every candidate qualifies. If an instruction is unclear, ask your placement cell or the verified recruitment contact for that drive.
A simple example of checking your degree
Illustration only: suppose a notice accepts BSc Computer Science and your degree is BSc Chemistry. A general mention of BSc elsewhere is not enough to establish your eligibility for that specific notice. Look for an explicit allowance or ask for clarification.
Similarly, if a notice names a graduating batch, compare it with the passing year in your records. Do not change your year in the form to make the application go through.
Keep Graduate Trainee and AMP separate
HCLTech lists BE, BTech, ME and MTech under Graduate Engineer Trainee. Its AMP programme is described for fresh engineering graduates. Check both sections on HCLTech's campus page.
When a post combines several hiring routes, check which heading each salary, cutoff or test belongs to. Carrying a condition from one programme into another can give you the wrong preparation plan.
If you were actually looking for the engineering route, read the separate HCLTech AMP programme guide. For the Graduate Trainee route, keep working from the notice that matches your qualification.
Use the official application route
HCLTech's fresher portal provides registration and login. Its FAQ recommends a personal email address and email verification. Source: official registration FAQ.
- Find the matching programme. Start from the official campus-hiring page and read the Graduate Trainee section alongside any current notice you have received.
- Use the linked official portal. Follow its registration or login instructions. Keep your own email and mobile number available for verification.
- Enter details from your records. Check name, degree title, university, passing year and marks before submission. Upload only what the genuine process requests.
- Keep evidence of the application. Save the acknowledgement, reference number or submission record provided. Follow the actual invitation for the next step; account creation alone is not an interview confirmation.
Organise your academic records before starting. The campus placement document checklist helps you prepare readable files and compare details across your resume and application.

Prepare for the work named in the role
Start with a small preparation routine that you can complete properly. These are practice suggestions, not confirmed HCLTech selection rounds. Your assessment invitation should decide the final topics and format.
- Explain your background: practise a short introduction connecting your degree, one real skill and the work you are applying for.
- Read and respond: summarise a short passage, write a clear email and explain a simple problem aloud.
- Use your subject: revise a manageable set of concepts connected to the responsibilities, then solve an example without copying.
- Review one work sample: check your spreadsheet, report or project, explain how it works and identify what you would improve.
If speaking English makes you nervous, record a one-minute explanation of your sample and listen for unclear sentences. The spoken English learning guide can help you choose a resource to support regular speaking practice.
Your resume should point to the same evidence. For BCA students, the BCA fresher resume guide explains how to present skills and projects clearly. For any degree, describe your actual contribution and remove claims you cannot explain.
Ask clear questions about salary and joining
When an offer arrives, ask for the written compensation breakup and understand the work you will do. Read the training terms, fixed and variable pay, location, work mode, shifts, joining conditions and any service agreement before deciding.
You can use the fresher job-offer comparison guide to organise those questions. Do not decide from a package screenshot while the actual role and written terms remain unclear.
Recruitment should not require a payment
HCLTech says it does not charge recruitment or hiring fees, security deposits, or software and equipment charges. Verify suspicious messages through its official recruitment-fraud guidance. A familiar logo or email display name alone does not establish authenticity.
Questions students usually ask
My college is not on the partner list. Should I stop applying?
The official portal FAQ says a missing college logo does not prevent an application. You still need to meet the particular opportunity's requirements. Read HCLTech's college-eligibility FAQ.
Can final-year students or candidates with a backlog apply?
Check the current notice for permitted passing years, pending results and backlog conditions. Explain your status accurately if you ask for clarification. Do not treat silence about a condition as approval.
Do I need to prepare coding for every Graduate Trainee opportunity?
Read the job description and your assessment invitation before choosing a coding syllabus. Prioritise the skills named there. The preparation examples above should be adapted to your actual role.
I registered but did not receive the login email. What next?
HCLTech's FAQ advises checking the spam folder and also mentions login through OTP. Use the official portal and its recovery options; keep passwords and OTPs private. Official portal help.
Should I wait only for HCLTech after registering?
Keep a record of this application and continue looking for suitable openings. The guide to jobs for freshers without experience can help you explore other directions while you improve your skills.
